Tour of Sydney
April 5, 2005
Today we toured Sydney on foot. We started our trip with a ferry ride from Manly to Sydney. Our first stop was the Chinese Friendship Garden. I think both sets of parents would enjoy this place.
Next, we walked to Cockle Bay Wharf where we had our peanut butter sandwiches and an apple for dessert. After finishing our satisfying lunch on the dock we walked to Hyde Park. Not much to the park so we headed to the Royal Botanic Gardens. On our way to the Gardens we passed the Art Gallery of New South Wales. It was free to get in. Just our price. We check out the art gallery for about an hour and headed to the Botanic Gardens. There were several species of birds in the gardens including the parrot seen in photo below and another bird I don't know what it is. Kaiser help me out here. Send me an email and let me know what kind of bird it is.
From the outer most point of the gardens was a great view of the Opera House and Harbour bridge. However, the sun and the cruise ship did not allow for a great photo opportunity. Here are a couple photos from the point.
We spent some more time walking around the Royal Botanic Gardens and ended up at the Opera House. We couldn't go inside, so we just took a few pictures and decided to go out to eat. Real food. Woo hoo! We ate at Blackbirds back at Cockle Bay Wharf. It was dark by the time we finished dinner and we headed back to Sydney Harbour where we took night pictures of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and the city. After walking around all day my dogs were barking and we were ready to go back to our hostel in Manly and rest.
