Rolling on to Avila

February 4, 2006

We made our way via the bus from Salamanca to Avila today. There was a definite nip in the air and it looked like snow was on the way. Since we were only in town for one day we took off early to see what the city had to offer. There were plenty of other tourists around town and we realized why once we saw the pristine medieval walls which enclose the old town. Close to 1km of the walls are open to the public and they offer great views of the countryside. The town is also home to many exquisite churches and cathedrals as well as the convent of Santa Teresa who was born in Avila. The temps continued to drop so we called it a day and kept warm inside our room while watching Alias in Spanish.
