Viva Madrid!!

February 7, 2006

We arrived in Madrid after a really quick bus ride from Segovia. A lot of people add Segovia as a day trip from Madrid because it's so easy to reach. After figuring out where we were dropped off at we jumped on the metro and made our way to the Plaza Mayor area. Since we had a hotel in mind we headed in that direction, but we found out they were booked up which was disappointing. I had visions of a really clean and spacious place to stay for the last 4 nights of our trip before we headed to Ireland. What we ended up with was really cheap, centrally located and relatively clean. I had to keep everything in check and after a mini breakdown we showered up and got ready to look around. Immediately we found Madrid's vibe to our liking. The area was buzzing with bustling tapas bars and restaurants. Keeping in mind that Ireland was going to be spendy we grabbed some groceries for a few days worth of meals with the idea of splurging a bit more during the nights. While enjoying our dinner we read through the information on the city's highlights and made a rough plan for the next 3 days.
