Sapa

Arrival to Sapa

June 21, 2005

Our train arrived in Lao Cai at 7:00 in the morning. The two guys in our cabin disappeared too quickly for us to even say goodbye. They booked a 3 day trekking tour and had transportation waiting for them. We still had to find transportation. After getting the runaround for twenty minutes we were on mini-bus to Sapa.

The mini-bus took an hour to get us to Sapa. The mini-bus just happened to drop us off at the hotel we wanted to check out. $7 a night and the view from our room was amazing. We ate breakfast taking in the wonderful view and planned out the rest of the day.

The rest of the day consisted of walking around town taking pictures. This place reminded us of Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park in Colorado.

Walking around town we met up with an older Australian couple and they invited us back to their hotel to try some of the local rice wine they purchased. This was the strongest wine I’ve ever tasted. I burned the whole way down. Good thing we were just sipping it out of plastic shot glasses. We had a nice conversation with Eric and Vivian before we parted ways and headed back to our hotel for a dinner on the balcony.
